100 Frenchie Names, Grouped by Theme (Because "Potato" Is Taken in Your Group Chat)
You brought home a French Bulldog. Congratulations. You now own a small, loud, bat-eared loaf that snores like a leaf blower and believes your pillow is community property.
Now it needs a name.
We're a family in Lehi, Utah, with seven English bulldogs. Frenchies are their smaller, pointier-eared cousins who got the same snore in a travel size. We spend our days laser-engraving tags for dogs exactly like yours, so we've seen a lot of names. Some were great. Some were "Dog." We're not here to judge. We're here to help you do better than "Dog."
Below are 100 Frenchie names, grouped by theme. Pick one that fits your dog's personality, or the personality you're hoping they'll grow into. (They won't. But hope is free.)

Florida Beach Names (Sun, Sand, and Strategic Shade)
Plenty of our tags end up on dogs living the Florida life. One honest note: Frenchies and heat do not get along. Those squished faces make cooling down hard, so beach days mean early mornings, shade, water, and an air-conditioned retreat. Name them after the beach. Let them enjoy it from under the umbrella.

How to Pick the Right Name (From People Who Engrave Them for a Living)
A few practical tips from the engraving bench:
- Shorter names read better on tags. "Gigi" fits big and bold. "Sir Reginald Waffleton III" fits too, but in very small letters. Your call.
- Say it out loud, angrily, in public. You will yell this name at a dog park. Make sure you're okay with strangers hearing "TOOTER, NO."
- Avoid names that sound like commands. "Kit" sounds like "sit." "Bo" sounds like "no." Your dog will be confused, though honestly, they were going to ignore you anyway.
- Give it a week. Sometimes a dog grows into a name. Sometimes they make it obvious you got it wrong.
Once you've got a name, pair it with a line that fits. Our Frenchie tags page has plenty for flat-faced dogs, and so does the bulldog page: "Snorts. Means it." "Built for comfort, not speed." "Velcro dog. Will not detach." The saying goes on the front; name and phone number go on the back. More on that in what to put on a dog tag, and if you also have a big cousin at home, see bulldog names.
Found the perfect name? Put it on something that'll survive the dog park, the beach, and a Frenchie who rolls in everything. Our laser-engraved tags, built in the builder, are made by a family that knows the snore personally.
